Salad Dressings

I know that we don’t count calories on this site, but just for giggles flip that bottle of creamy dressing over. Here’s what I found:

“Big Name” Ranch Dressing (2 Tablespoons)

  • 11 grams of fat
  • 110 calories

“Specialty” Cesar Dressing (2 Tablespoons)

  • 17 grams of fat
  • 160 calories

The Cesar Salad dressing on this site is made with a total of 4 tablespoons of olive oil. It will easilly dress salad for 10 people or only 5.6 grams of fat per serving.

The point is, if you are watching your weight it is worth the extra effort in making your own salad dressing. You control the oil and the calories.

    • Instead of frying in oil or fat, try baking those items instead. Baking does not require all the fat and oil that frying requires and your food is not soaking in those substances while it cooks.
